ASM provides independent fine art and specie pre-risk surveys, condition reports and loss surveys for insurers, brokers, galleries, museums, auction houses, fine art shippers and private collectors. From our base in Beirut, we attend in Lebanon and across the Middle East, applying the procedural control, technical accuracy and discretion that high-value artworks and valuables require.

As the Lloyd's Agent in Beirut since 2015, ASM works to the standards expected by insurers, legal parties, museums and specialist handlers. Our team holds the Arts Management Certificate from Gurr Johns and ESA Business School.

Fine Art Services

  • Pre-risk surveys: assessing collections, residences, galleries, storage facilities and exhibition venues before cover is placed, including security, fire protection, environmental conditions, handling and storage practices, with recommendations to the underwriter

  • Pre-shipment and arrival condition reports: documenting the condition of artworks before packing, at loading and on arrival

  • Damage assessment: investigating the cause and extent of damage from transit, handling, moisture, mold or impact

  • Valuation documentation: supporting the insurer's assessment of loss and depreciation

  • Claims reports and evidence: detailed photographic records and findings prepared for insurers, adjusters and legal parties

  • On-site inspections: for galleries, museums, auction houses, exhibitions, collectors, shippers and packers

  • Conservator coordination: liaising with conservators and restorers on treatment, repair costs and loss in value

Pre-Risk Surveys

Before cover is placed or renewed, ASM inspects the risk on behalf of underwriters and brokers. We assess the premises, security, fire protection, environmental controls, packing and storage arrangements, and transit plans. We then issue a clear report with risk-improvement recommendations, so insurers can underwrite with confidence and clients can reduce the likelihood of loss.

Pre-risk surveys are available for private collections, galleries, museums, exhibitions, fine art storage, jewellers and specie risks in Lebanon and the Middle East.
