Heavy lift, Oversize & Project Cargo

ASM provides independent surveys and technical supervision for heavy-lift, oversize and project cargo on behalf of cargo insurers, project owners, contractors, freight forwarders, carriers and P&I Clubs. From our base in Beirut, we attend operations at Lebanese ports, on board vessels and along the inland route, so that high-value equipment is loaded, carried and delivered safely.

As the Lloyd's Agent in Beirut since 2015, ASM applies recognised marine engineering and risk-control standards. Our surveys are led by Master Mariners and marine engineers with hands-on experience of heavy-lift operations.

Project Cargo Services

• Loading and discharge supervision: attending heavy lifts by ship's gear, shore and mobile cranes

• Stowage, lashing and securing: reviewing and approving lashing plans, sea-fastening and dunnage

• Vessel stability review: checking stability and deck strength for heavy and deck cargo

• Pre-shipment condition surveys: documenting cargo condition and packing before loading

• Route surveys: assessing roads, bridges, turning radii and obstructions for oversize road transport

• Damage investigation: cause and extent of damage, repair scope and cost assessment

Marine Warranty and Risk Control

On high-value project shipments, insurers often require independent approval of the lifting, stowage and transport arrangements before cover attaches. ASM reviews method statements, lifting plans and lashing calculations, attends critical operations, and issues certificates of approval. This reduces the risk of loss and gives underwriters the evidence they need.
